Just as Mary Poppins taught us when we were children, “Just a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down“.
If you’ve taken a walk down any vitamin aisle lately you may have noticed the latest trend - vitamins and other nutritional supplements are now available in adult-dose gummies. Gummies just like those chewy bears you snacked on in grade school.
Considering I already take a handful of pills daily for a variety of maladies, the thought of adding more pills to swallow (even when it’s in my best interest) makes me nauseous. In the past I’ve tried taking vitamins to supplement my less than ideal diet, but as I said yesterday I can only do something for so long before my brain says, screw this, I’m done with it. But the idea of chewing a couple gummy bears daily appealed to me so I decided to give it a try. I began with Vitamin D and a probiotic. Both were tasty and gave no hint of being good for me. And because I’m adult and I know sitting there eating them by the handful would not be good for me which would be counterproductive.
Anxious to further improve my health I’ve began to investigate what other supplements are available in gummy form. So far I’ve come across vitamin C, multi-vitamins, omega 3/fish oils and calcium. If I buy these items I’ll not only be taking better care of my body but also satisfying my sweet tooth at the same time. Who needs candy? Now doesn’t that sound Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?
