The Blackhawks have brought home the Stanley Cup, Don Draper and the rest of the Madmen have left me hanging until next season. The Bates Motel is closed for renovations and I’m almost finished watching the previous season of Dexter on DVD.

Now that the temperature has taken a drastic dip over the past several weeks, my interest in football has traveled in the opposite direction. I don’t know if my morbid tendencies have more to do with the disturbing shows I watched as a child, such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Creature Feature and The Twilight Zone, or the Stephen King books I faithfully read, or because the television set in our home always seemed to be tuned to some news program.
